A Northwest native, Victoria Shaw is recognized as an artist of the earth. She took her first clay class fresh out of college. The next ten years from then on she coiled pots at home and fired them at local crafts centers.
She returned to school eventually to earn a MFA from the University of Oregon and focused on environmental clay structure. Her sculptures are hand built and inspired by organic shapes found in the nature. From subtle delicacy to bold statements, her work is suitable for the home, garden or corporate site.
Victoria described her clay structures as our connection with the earth and our need to seek the upward spiral of our dreams. "I can't separate my art from my spirituality. I think of us being here on earth to learn different lessons and grow," she says.
